Eco Fashion Undressed Undressed Runways brings fashion and sustainability together

Undress Runways is responsible for  Australia’s largest sustainable fashion shows in the movement towards eco fashion. Devoted to promoting emerging Australian designers who are creating sustainable or eco fashion collections, along with showcasing established fashion designers in the industry, Undress Runways are on a  mission and are taking Australian fashion with them.

Eco Fashion never looked so good

Undress Runways more than just a fashion show, it challenges its guests to consider the sustainability of their own wardrobe both on the night and going forward. “If you are unsure where it was made, what it is made of or where it will end up, take it off.”

Launched in Brisbane in 2011 originally just as ‘Undress Brisbane’, this year Undress Runways is now taking their sustainable and eco fashion show to Melbourne too and entries for designers has just opened.

Going vintage is sustainable eco fashion

They believe green is the new black, and we aren’t talking about colours here. Increasing environmental awareness has people leaning towards eco-friendly products and practices and a focus on sustainability and Undress Runways says there is no reason this shouldn’t extend to your wardrobe.

The Undress Runway typically showcases no-waste collections, recycled designs, vintage labels by designers who are conscious of the effect their creating and producing has on the environment. The event is held in a city car park with funky reused furniture and eco installations.

Whilst some fashion on display has a stripped-back, simplistic look this isn’t a rule. It is not a show of hessian and cardboard. Incredible colours and designs are on display as well as gorgeous vintage fashion. Re-purposing the old fashion  make new pieces is actually the most sustainable practice in eco fashion of all.

Eco fashion extends to lingerie & swim wear

The event is a three part show, featuring swimwear & lingerie, day-wear, evening-wear & accessories. By the end of the show your eco fashion appetite will well and truly be be satiated however if you find yourself suffering an eco thirst from all the sustainable inspiration on offer, Undress Runways offer organic cocktails to guests.

Undress Runways will be stripping things off in Melbourne next month, on the 15th of February. If you are not participating as an eco fashion or sustainable designer, go along and support their cause and get some eco fashion inspo.
