Look Hot This Australia Day Side-step the rules and pull off the Australia Day essentials in style

We know it goes against tradition but we are going to look hot this Australia Day. Want to follow our lead? Here are some tips on how side-step the rules and pull off the Australia Day essentials in style and look hot, not like some hobo. Better yet, we have even nailed the best Australian fashion labels for you to achieve this feat

The Swim Suit

There is a reason Australia Day is in summer. Sure it was when Australia was found but there must have been a greater force at work there because it wouldn’t be Australia Day if you could wear the most iconic and essential piece of Australian fashion; the swim suit.

Your swimsuit  is  key to how you look hot this Australia Day, whether you are a bikini buff, one piece wonder or surfer chick. Honour the day by donning your swimsuit and we don’t mean the Australian flag cut into a bikini or taking tips from Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C..and wearing one made of Kangaroo fur.

Seafolly Swimwear

Australian swim wear labels are renowned as some of the best in the world, with chic, sexy swimsuits that are representative of the Australian tropical, outdoors, beach-side life.

Kicking ass in the swim suit arena right now is Australian label We Are Handsome, with their unique styles that are quickly gathering them a cult following and favourite Australian label Seafolly is still on top with their sexy suits for every woman.

The Wide-Brimmed Hat

They don’t call it the ‘Sunburned Country’ for nothing.  This is why the  wide-brimmed hat  is an essential piece of iconic Australian fashion and just so happens to be on high trend in the fashion world right now. Sure, there are that who can’t wait for Australia Day so they can slap on the straw hat emblazoned with the Australian flag or that boldly proclaims STRAYA in green & gold across the hatband. We are not those people and we are betting you aren’t either. If you are, let us gently lead you in another direction.

Bec & Bridge Adventurer Akubra

Australian fashion label Bec & Bridge have collaborated with AKUBRA to make the ultimate Australia Day Essential, The Bianca Adventurer Akubra.

Another Australian fashion label killing it in the head wear department right now is Fallen Broken Street, with a range of wide-brimmed hats that are have Australia stamped all over them. The Dingo is our pick from their collection to look hot the Australia Day, made of of pure felt and with a slick leather band as an ode to the Bush Tucker man. Both  Aussie enough to wear on the day and chic enough to wear every day after. Win.

The Thongs

The humble thong. Yes, Australia Day demands day you simply must wear the most feeble piece of footwear on Earth. Probably topped only by Blundstones as iconic Australian  footwear (and good lord are we not going there), the thong  is an essential piece of Australian fashion. Unlike Blundstones, they actually look good and take about .5 of a second to don and remove as opposed to a four-hour tug of war with your own foot, using a tub of butter and a shoe horn.

Billabong Gold Weave Thongs

Australian fashion labels Billabong and Kustom have finally come to the party and started making thongs with style. No longer a simple slip of rubber, thongs have come a long way in looks and can now resemble stylish footwear.

Leather and fabric straps, stud detailing and stylish colours mean that you can wear this iconic accessory and still look hot this Australia Day. Added bonus? Wearing thongs means your feet need to look in primo condition so you can treat yourself to a pedicure in the name of your country.

The traditional BONDS singlet

We know that preferred term is ‘wife-beater’ by some but here we are going to simply refer to it as what is actually is. The singlet. The arm-baring favourite that make summer tolerable Down Under and goes with everything.  You can’t go wrong with a traditional white bonds singlet. The makers of the original ‘wifebeater’, iconic Australian label BONDS have moved along and now make the best shapes of singlets around.

The Neon Bralette

If you are more inclined towards the new super-baggy style singlet with peek-aboo-sides, you can rock that to, just make sure you have the perfect bralette to go underneath.

These are the perfect pair in fashion right now. Our favourites are the neon lace & nylon bralettes by our favorite Australian fashion label Oneteaspoon. Not only are they super sexy, if you feel the need to lose your shirt, they double as a bikini top. Perfect.
