The bane of any girl’s existence is beauty products that don’t go the distance. Even the most expensive make up can be the victim of cracking or melting  and have a short expiry date. Follow these top tips  so you have a beauty kit full of  make up that lasts.

Re-hydrate your cream eye shadow for make up that lasts

Cream or gel based products such as cream eye shadows or gel primers can be prone to drying out, especially if you use them sparingly. If you find them drying out, add one or two drops of any face-friendly oil such as baby, jojoba or rosehip oil to the product.

Don’t want to mix the oil in but let it absorb naturally so the best method is to do this in the evening and by morning voilà! It will be re-hydrated and ready to use once again! Also, any water-based foundations have a two year life span at best so to really get them to go the distance, store them in the fridge for make up that lasts.

Make your cracked powder solid again for make up that lasts

You may have thought that once your powder cracks the end is nigh. You were wrong. For powder make up that lasts, scoop what you can back into its compact, or pot, add some pure  alcohol (you can buy this at any chemist)  and pat with a spoon until it becomes a paste. Leave  it to set for a day or at least overnight and wake up to find the powder once again solid and ready to wear.

You can also use the exact same method method for broken eye shadow. Winning!

Save your lip stick for make up that lasts

Has your favourite  lipstick melted or snapped? Don’t tout trying this handy tip. Scoop the lipstick out of the tube or place the snapped piece, place in an empty lip pallet  (a clean empty eye shadow pot works great too) then lightly wave over with a hair dryer. Before your eyes it will melt  into its new place. Leave to set then use a lip brush to apply and there you have it!

Noticing dark patches on the surface of your pressed powder or blush?  This is likely caused by the oil from your skin being transferred onto the product via the sponge or your brush you use for application, causing a build-up on the surface.  To save this ruining your product or making it hard to use, try scraping a clean mascara wand over the area affected to remove the oil and make a the surface fresh again.

It also goes without saying that you neecd to make sure you wash your make up brushes or sponges regularly not only for hygiene purposes but to also to help make sure your make up that lasts as long as possible.
