The Melbourne Cup Tuesday 5th of November 2013

Melbourne Cup has got to be one of the highlights on the fashion calendar and this year did not disappoint. With a variety of perfectly styled celebrities, designer dresses, extravagant hats and Fashions on the Field it was a day to remember.

Dita Von Teese

Jennifer Hawkins with Myer Ambassadors Laura Dundovic , Kris Smith and Lauren Phillips

Coco Rocha

Canadian super model Coco Rocha was invited to the prestigious Melbourne Cup Birdcage as the international style guest of The Victorian Racing Club. She looked dazzling in a sleek black, white and red dress by designer Peter Pilotto. The dress consisted of colour blocked shapes and a black and white digital print. The outfit was topped off with a large, black bow fascinator by Australian milliner Nerida Winter.

Dita Von Teese looked glamorous in a white 50’s skirt suit. Von Teese is an American burlesque dancer, model, costume designer, entrepreneur and occasional actress, with all these titles under her belt it is no wonder she was deemed the biggest celebrity at the cup. Her outfit was topped off with beautiful pink and white orchids on her suit and head piece.

Another big name, Kate Upton wore a skin tight red dress by Antonio Berardi. She fit perfectly into the ensemble which was paired with a simple black and red fascinator.

The face of Myer, Jennifer Hawkins had a dress specially designed by Yeojin Bae. Bae is a Korean born Australian designer famous for her style and digital prints. The masterpiece she created for Hawkins was a one sleeved red dress with lace trims; needless to say it looked beautiful on the former Miss Australia who wore it with a pair of red heels and a crown by Nerida Winter.

Myer Ambassadors Kris Smith, Lauren Phillips, Laura Dundovic joined in the days festivities in style. Smith wore a pinstripe suit by Jeff Banks, Phillips had on a floral printed dress from Cue, and Dundovic wore an orange dress by Aurelio Costarella and millinery by Kerrie Stanley.

The day was at it’s height when model Chloe Moo was crowned winner of the 2013 Myer Fashions on the Field Racewear competition. Her outfit comprised of a dress designed by Raw Cloth with fabric that had been screen printed by Marita Sambono, a designer from Merrepen Arts.

It was another great year at the cup with a vast display of stylish fashions from local and international designers. Looking forward to what 2014 brings!
