Chief Giddy Aunt

Prior to being a giddy aunt, Chief Giddy Aunt Nikki Johnston was a Fairy Queen. Really. She was. Nikki started one of the first, (and the only original, remaining) fairy shops in Queensland - Fairies on the Downs. Back then, she was known as "Fairy Queen NikkleTikkle". Prior to that Nikki worked in children's theatre (Victoria), wrote children's books (including Magenta's Tartan Socks), told stories and taught preschoolers and adults (not at the same time). More recently Nikki has worked as Development Manager and then National Director for Australian charities promoting child health and protection. Her work with these organisations was a constant reminder of just how precious our stories are, and the importance of treasuring special moments. Nikki designs many of the giddy goodies. She also works with other Australian designers and artists as well as sourcing traditional style keepsakes for the collection.
