SHORTS IN WINTER A guide for the stubborn shorts lovers out there

This winter, cold be damned, shorts did not get packed away. So enamored is the fashion world with shorts that they arguably the most functional piece of clothing on the face of the planet.

We realise this might be hard to imagine for the same people who think you can’t wear skirts in winter but we are here to tell you it’s happening. Everywhere, people are wearing shorts in winter. And look it looks hot, even if they are feeling a little cold.

Here’s how wearing shorts in winter works…

 shorts-in-winter-sweater WITH THE CHUNKY KNIT

Well this goes without saying. The chunky knit solves all winter ills and goes with all on trend outfits this season. Whether its jeans and heels, leather pants, your winter skirt or distressed denim, the chunky knit is the perfect accompaniment.

It is also absolutely perfect with shorts in winter pins to keep you cozy up top while you show off your pins. They work best with leather shorts or frayed denim cut offs and an ankle boot for an easy, yet stylish look.

Worried about that frosty breeze blowing on your bare legs? Don’t let that stop you wearing shorts in winter. This season’s essential cover up, the super stylish trench coat, is perfect to add a little extra coverage length-wise. This is ideal for a more dressed up approach to baring the legs.

Pair your leather or suit-style shorts with a button-up shirt, done the trench and slick, minimalist accessories and boom. Hotness with just a touch of chill that is totally worth it.

shorts-in-winter-blazerWITH THE BLAZER

It sounds like chalk and cheese but these two pieces actually come together like wine and chocolate.  A denim short – frayed, rolled or boy friend baggy paired with a structured suit style blazer in a tonal colour such as black, navy or grey looks super slick. Pair with a plain cotton tee also in a tonal colour, or dress it up with a cotton or silk button up shirt.

Like with the trench, keep accessories sleek and minimalist or if your out fit is really tonal, add a splash of color with bright  boho clutch or a red lip. This look is also perfectly topped of with the on-trend winter hat.

When done right, shorts in winter is the ultimate look that let’s you show of your best asset; your pins! Need a bit of that long gone summer glow on them to be brave enough to bare them? See our tip s on how to stay tan all winter.
