Each bag by The Luxe Project is completely unique

With a focus on the principles of sustainable fashion and ethical fashion, this small Australian label is setting an example while creating beautiful accessories.

The Luxe Project is a boutique Australian label brought to you by Melbourne mother-daughter duo Chutisa and Sharidan Bowman. The gorgeous bags are designed in Australia and handmade in Thailand from vintage handmade textiles sourced from around South East Asia, including Thailand’s spectacular Hill Tribes.

Unlike the increasingly common copies of original South East Asian fabrics, The Luxe Project uses ancient hand-woven ceremonial garments and tapestries that are handpicked by the designers themselves and then deconstructed and repurposed to create gorgeous bags. This not only makes them very precious but incredibly unique; no two bags are the same, and each has its own special history.

Originally hailing from Thailand, Chutisa is no stranger to beautiful objects. Growing surrounded by exotic design and a life-long fashion lover, The Luxe Project is a product of her background. She is also no stranger to the way that some manufacturers take advantage of the lower prices for merchandise and labour in places such as South East Asia.

This is why the Luxe Project is devoted to creating a sustainable business system by being an ethical fashion brand. Their fabrics are ethically purchased and their pieces are made by a select group of artisans who are treated ethically in both income and work conditions.

The result is the gorgeous hand-crafted creations from The Luxe Project which tell a story not just of history but of sustainable, ethical fashion and are the perfect summer fashion essential.

The onus isn’t just on the quality of the design and craftsmanship but also on the raw materials used and the importance of fair trade and ethical practices. “ – The Luxe Project
